Husker football 2027 season opener moved to Arrowhead Stadium

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska football 2027 season opener has now been moved to Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

Nebraska will face Miami, a university in Ohio. The RedHawks and Cornhuskers’ matchup will be on Aug. 27, 2027.

The game was originally scheduled to be played at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln on Sept. 11. After schools were allowed to start the season a week earlier, schedule changes allowed the season opener to move to Kansas City.

“Our fans and team enjoyed the game in Kansas City a year ago, and shortly after that contest we began having discussions with the Chiefs about returning to Arrowhead,” Nebraska Deputy AD/Chief Operating Officer Haven Fields said. “The 2027 schedule provided an opportunity to play a game in another great venue with Memorial Stadium at a reduced capacity, while maintaining seven games in Lincoln for our fans.”

The game will not be part of Nebraska’s seven-game season ticket package.
