Husker QB Casey Thompson set to start against Wisconsin

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska will have its starting QB back under center against Wisconsin.

On Thursday, interim head coach Mickey Joseph said Casey Thompson, who hasn’t played since the Illinois game, would start Saturday barring any setbacks.

“Now we can push the ball down the field if we need to and he is also going to make sure we get it in the right place,” Joseph said. “He is going to be able to line the running back up. He is the starting quarterback. We are getting him back.”

Nebraska has struggled offensively with backups Logan Smothers and Chubba Purdy in games against Minnesota and Michigan.

The Huskers will now look to snap a four-game losing streak against the Badgers, who they haven’t defeated since 2012.

Even if Nebraska wins its final two games, the Huskers will still fail to secure bowl eligibility.

Nebraska hasn’t been to a bowl game since Mike Riley led them to the Music City Bowl in 2016.
