LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Another Husker quarterback placed his name in the transfer portal this week.

Logan Smothers, who came to Nebraska in 2020, entered the transfer portal on Wednesday, according to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg.

The Alabama native played in 11 games with the Huskers, totaling 413 passing yards, 161 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Last season, Smothers split time at QB with Chubba Purdy after Casey Thompson was injured in the game against Illinois.

On Tuesday, Nebraska QB Richard Torres also announced that he would be entering the transfer portal.

Nebraska now has five quarterbacks – including Purdy, Jeff Sims and Casey Thompson – remaining on its roster.

Head coach Matt Rhule has not yet said who will start at QB in the fall.
