Husker Volleyball Ready For Brutal Final Stretch Of Season

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — After matches against the bottom of the Big Ten standings, the Nebraska volleyball team takes a significant step up in competition.

The 4th-ranked Huskers host No. 5 Minnesota for a pair of matches this weekend and then travel to No. 1 Wisconsin the following weekend.

“The honeymoon part of the season is over,” said head coach John Cook. “It’s grind time now.”

Nebraska has beaten up on Indiana, Rutgers and Maryland on its way to a 6-0 start to the year. Still, the Huskers are ready for the challenge ahead and know these matches are crucial in the Big Ten title race.

“I think we’re excited for a challenge,” said senior captain Lauren Stivrins. “I think we’re ready. I think we want the challenge to see how we stack up against them.”

The Huskers and Gophers get underway at 8:00 p.m. on Friday while the second match will be Sunday at 11:00 a.m. Both matches can be watched on the Big Ten Network.
