Husker women’s basketball player Kate Cain revealed she had tested positive for the coronavirus on Monday. She announced the news on a video posted to Nebraska Athletics’ website.

Cain, a Middlebrook, N.Y. native, is fully recovered and out of quarantine. Her immediate family all tested positive for the virus as well but are all fine now.

“Yeah, it was a little scary,” Cain said in the cell phone video.

Cain and her little brother were asymptomatic, while her older brother, father and mother each experienced symptoms but are now fully recovered. They received the virus from Cain’s father, Tim, who was deemed an essential worker West Point for the Army Corps of Engineers.

Cain became Nebraska’s all-time leader in career blocked shots last season. She will return for her senior year with the Huskers in 2020.
