Huskers heading to the Masters as Tiger Woods makes another comeback

UNL's Hospitality, Restaurant and Tourism Management program will assist members at one of the world's biggest tournaments

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Students and faculty with the Hospitality, Restaurant and Tourism Management program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will assist members, patrons and staff at the 2022 Masters Tournament.

This will be the eighth time they’ve partnered with the Masters Tournament.

A group from Nebraska left to begin training at the Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia on March 31st.  Students and instructor Kelly Abdelmassih will fill a variety of roles for tournament operations.  The group will return to Nebraska on April 12, after the tournament.

“Our hospitality management students receive an incredible experience, including a firsthand view into the club industry,” said Abdelmassih, assistant professor of practice in hospitality, restaurant and tourism management. “This year, we have a record 22 students who were selected to participate, including a few who are PGA golf management majors. We are thrilled to continue this relationship with Augusta National and look forward to returning next year.”

The tournament requires around 2,000 hospitality professionals to provide service to participants, members and patrons.

The Masters Tournament begins this morning and ends on April 10th.
