Hy-Vee announced that effective Wednesday, May 6, it will limit meat purchases at all of its locations.

Each customer will be limited to four packages of a combination of fresh beef, ground beef, pork and chicken when they checkout at all Hy-Vee locations.

The company said in a statement is working with industry leaders to prepare for possible fluctuations in products.

The grocery chain said it has meat products available, but due to worker shortages at plants and increased meat sales, certain items may not be available.
