Hy-Vee teams up with first responders to help our community

They're giving out hams as part of their annual One Step Hams for the Holidays campaign

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Hy-Vee and local first responders are hosting their 5th annual One Step Hams for the Holidays campaign today.

They will be distributing 250 hams to help with hunger relief.

The event is being held at Southwood Lutheran Church from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., or whenever all the hams have all been given out.

Hams for the Holidays is a cooperative effort with Hormel Foods.  Hy-Vee is stopping at 19 locations across 10 states to deliver a total of 7,400 hams.

The Hams for the Holidays campaign will mark the beginning of Hy-Vee’s “Food Bank Fridays” initiative which raises funds to help supply local food banks.  More than 285 stores are participating in the campaign that will last for several months.  Costumers are encouraged to go in-store or visit Hy-VeeAislesOnline.com to make a $1 or $5 donation towards their local Feeding America-affiliated food bank.
