Rhode Island gas prices slowly decline, still higher than February

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Drivers are starting to slowly feel relief at the gas pump, after a month of record-setting high gas prices.
Rhode Island gas prices have started to decline, but still remain higher than a month ago, according to the latest AAA Northeast report.
The average gas price in the state is $4.20 per gallon, two cents down from last week. That price is still .61 cents higher compared to February.
“Domestically, gasoline demand is again defying seasonal trends and has dipped for the second straight week, perhaps due to higher pump prices and consumers altering their driving habits,” said Lloyd Albert, Senior Vice President of Public and Government Affairs.
“Although the national price of gasoline has moderated over the past three weeks, elevated prices will likely be the norm as we approach peak demand later this spring,” Albert added.
