UPDATE: 4-month-old dead after I-80 crash identified


According to the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office, the deceased victim from the crash occurring May 18, 2019 on I80 at mile marker 430 has been identified as four-month-old Amila Johnson from Scotts Bluff, NE.  Amila was secured in a child safety seat located in the rear passenger area of the 2017 Chevrolet Cruze she was occupying at the time of the crash.  The driver of the Cruze has been identified as nineteen-year-old Adriana Rodriguez, also from Scotts Bluff,  NE.  There were a total of four occupants in the Cruze at the time of the crash.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 2015 Chrysler Minivan, has been identified as seventy-three-year-old Mary Lynch from Omaha, NE.  There were a total of two occupants in the Minivan at the time of the crash.

The initial investigation indicates the Chevy Cruze was eastbound on I80 when the vehicle crossed the center median and entered the westbound lanes of I80, where it collided with the Chrysler Minivan.  All occupants of both vehicles were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

The crash is still under investigation by the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the South Metro Crash Response Team.
