Illinois man found with guns, cocaine after chase with Nebraska trooper
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An Illinois man was found Monday with several guns and drugs after a pursuit in southeast Nebraska, the patrol says.
Around 10:30 a.m., a trooper tried pulling over a Dodge Magnum for speeding on Highway 8 near Pawnee City, but the driver refused to stop.
The driver, 40-year-old Jesse Starry, then drove onto a rural driveway and jumped out of the moving vehicle, the patrol says.
Starry started running away, and the trooper started chasing after him.
Eventually, the trooper was able to catch up to Starry and take him into custody.
Troopers then searched his vehicle and found four firearms, over 200 rounds of ammunition, 32 grams of cocaine, 144 grams of psilocybin mushrooms and 214 grams of marijuana.
Starry was arrested on suspicion of possessing controlled substances, possession with intent to deliver, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of a short-barreled rifle and carrying a concealed firearm.
He was lodged in the Johnson County Jail, according to the patrol.
Pawnee City is about 40 miles southeast of Beatrice.
