Inmate convicted of sexual assault missing from Community Corrections Center-Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Authorities are now searching for an inmate who went missing from the Community Corrections Center-Lincoln on Thursday.
George Piper, who began his sentence in 1997, did not return from his job in the community, the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services said.
He was sentenced to 35 to 52 years on charges that include first-degree sexual assault, second-degree assault, burglary and escape.
Officials say 54-year-old Piper is 6-foot-2, 170 pounds and has brown hair and eyes.
Piper had a tentative release date of Nov. 19, 2023. He was scheduled for a parole hearing in August.
Anyone with information is asked to call local authorities or the Nebraska State Patrol.
