Inmate says he’s coming back, doesn’t return to CCC-L

Another inmate has gone missing from the CCC-L, authorities are asking for your help finding him.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)- An inmate has been reported missing from the Community Corrections Center in Lincoln (CCC-L) and authorities are asking for your help finding him.

38-year-old Ronald Sowards was out in the community when he told staff he was on his way back but the electronic monitoring device he was wearing indicated no movement for several hours on Thursday. Officers say attempts to locate the inmate have been unsuccessful.

Sowards’ sentence began on August 20, 2018. He was sentenced to 8-12 years for burglary in Lancaster County as well as burglar and possession/receiving a stolen firearm in Saunders County.

His tentative release date is November 19, 2023, with a parole eligibility date of January 5, 2022.

Sowards is a 38-year-old white man, 5;9″, 215 lbs., brown hair, and hazel eyes. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact local authorities or the Nebraska State Patrol.
