Investigation ongoing for fatal Lincoln County motorcycle crash
LINCOLN COUNTY, Neb. (KLKN) — On Sunday, Aug. 9, around 1:30 p.m., the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was called to an accident on Hwy 30, near marker 199.
As deputies responded, they found the crash had occurred between two westbound vehicles.
During investigation it was discovered that two people were riding a Honda Trike motorcycle and attempted to pass a John Deere tractor. A Ford F-250 was in front of the tractor. Dale and Tammy Lake, the riders on the motorcycle, pulled in between the tractor and Ford, before trying to pass the Ford as well.
A pickup had been following behind the Lake’s and was attempting to pass the tractor and the motorcycle when Dale Lake attempted to pass the Ford. Dale Lake could not slow down fast enough and him and his wife were thrown from the motorcycle.
Both Dale and Tammy Lake were wearing helmets and transported to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.
On Aug. 10, Dale Lake died from his injuries involving the crash. Tammy Lake is still recovering from her injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
