Judge grants request for change of venue of Boswell murder trial
A judge has granted a change of venue for the trial of Bailey Boswell, according to court records. The trial has been moved from Wilber, in Saline County, to Lexington, in Dawson County.
District Court Judge Vicky Johnson approved the venue change on Friday. The new trial is scheduled for March 2020.
Boswell faces first-degree murder, improper disposal of human remains and conspiracy to commit murder in the November 2017 killing of Sydney Loofe. Boswell faces the death penalty if convicted.
In November 2017, 24-year-old Sydney Loofe, of Lincoln, was reported missing. Weeks later, Loofe’s body parts were found in ditches along a state highway in rural Clay County.
Aubrey Trail, 52, and Bailey Boswell were accused of killing and dismembering Loofe.
In July 2019, Aubrey Trail was found guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Trail now faces the death penalty.
