Kansas City woman decapitated 6-year-old son, police say
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City, Missouri, woman is accused of decapitating her 6-year-old son.
Police went to a home Tuesday night on a report of a disturbance, according to court documents.
Officers say that they found blood on the front steps and that the woman inside refused to answer the door.
Officers also saw a severed head inside.
They forced their way in and found two knives and a woman, 35-year-old Tasha Haefs, with blood on her, court documents say.
A dead dog was also found inside the home.
Authorities say Haefs admitted to killing the boy.
She has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.
“Anytime it’s a child, it just takes on a different depth of despair,” Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker told ABC affiliate KMBC.
