Kansas man dead after plane crashes in northern Nebraska pasture
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Kansas man was killed Tuesday in a northern Nebraska plane crash.
The Holt County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened around 1 p.m. in a pasture northeast of Chambers, a small village.
The pilot, 69-year-old Mark Gietzen, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gietzen had taken off from Newton, Kansas, and was en route to North Dakota at the time of the crash, the sheriff’s office said.
Investigators with the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board arrived Wednesday at the crash site.
The cause of the crash is unknown at this time.
