Kawasaki subway car built in Lincoln named Coolest Thing Made in Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Move over, Dorothy Lynch.

Kawasaki Motors’ R211 rail car is the state’s coolest product, according to the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce.

The subway car, which is built in Lincoln, was given the Coolest Thing Made in Nebraska award at the chamber’s manufacturing summit in La Vista on Tuesday.

Manufacturers and students were among those who voted in the competition.

Sixteen finalists went head-to-head in bracket-style matchups, according to a press release.

Other nominees included Dorothy Lynch, Grain Weevil Robot, athletic hurdles and a tractor stalk roller.

Mike Johnson, chief operations officer for the chamber, said this year’s contest had friendly face-offs on social media between companies vying for votes.

“But in the end, we’re all aligned in highlighting the global problem-solving and world-class, high-tech products coming out of our hometowns across Nebraska every day,” he said.
