Knife-wielding man tried stealing car in drive-thru of Lincoln Taco Bell, police say
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was caught Thursday after he tried stealing a woman’s car in the drive-thru of a Lincoln restaurant, police say.
Around 8:40 p.m., a woman was in the drive-thru of a Taco Bell, located near 48th and O Streets, when a man armed with a knife came up to her vehicle.
The man – later identified as 30-year-old Kyle Christen – demanded that the woman get out of the car.
Police say she grabbed her keys, got out and ran into the Taco Bell.
Once he realized there were no keys, Christen left and went to a nearby Yogurtini, where he approached two teens in a car.
The teens obliged when Christen opened the car’s door and told them to get out, police say.
He then drove off, but officers were able to track the vehicle using an Apple AirTag.
Officers found the vehicle at a home near 33rd and Holdrege Streets and took Christen into custody.
He was arrested on suspicion of robbery, attempted robbery and two counts of using a weapon to commit a felony.
