Lancaster County law enforcement agencies introduce ‘Gov2Go’ app

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Law enforcement agencies in Lancaster County are participating in a pilot program to help reduce failed court appearances.

The program was introduced earlier this week and aims to continue testing the program’s efficiency over the next six months.

It allows people to sign up for court-date reminders with text or voice messages.

Lincoln Police Department’s Captain Todd Kocian, says the app can save you money and time.

”Think about if you’re on your way to a family event or something of that nature, you happen to get stopped for a traffic offense, if we discover you have a warrant, we don’t have a choice, we have to arrest you.,” Kocian said.

Officers are being asked to hand out an information sheet when giving a citation with information on how to sign up.

If you currently have a citation and want to look into signing up for reminders, visit https://supremecourt.nebraska.gov/courtdate
