Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office investigating string of mail thefts in Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office has begun an investigation into a string of mail thefts that happened over the weekend in Lincoln and Hickman.
On Sunday around 11:50 p.m., a man came home to find a bunch of mail in a ditch southeast of Bennett, LSO says.
LSO has 16 reports of mail thefts that began near 70th and Yankee Hill Road. Some of the mail thefts were also reported in Hickman.
The thefts appear to have happened on Saturday and Sunday, LSO says.
Deputies are still going through the stolen mail found in the ditch to determine who the victims were and how much they lost.
A lot of the mail had been junk, but some valuable items were reported stolen, according to LSO.
Last week, Lincoln Police reported a string of seven mail thefts from drop boxes at different apartments and trailer parks.
Another seven mail thefts were also reported at residential mailboxes, according to Lincoln Police.
LSO says they will be working with Lincoln Police to determine if they are any similarities in the mail theft cases.
The investigation is currently ongoing.
