The Lancaster Event Center is keeping proactive during the pandemic.

A new COVID-19 testing site was opened there last week in Lincoln. It’s part of the state’s Test Nebraska initiative.

The event center also is hosting three more events this week and a manager says the center has more than enough space for social distancing and safety for each event.

“We’re going to be able to keep it all separate and safe and we’re going to be a backup election precinct,” says Amy Dickerson, managing director for Lancaster Event Center. “We’re going to be a blood drive location and then the UNL Arboretum is having their plants curbside pick up so we’re going to be able to keep it really safe but yet provide the service for the community. We’re thrilled to do it.”

The Red Cross Blood Drive is Tuesday, 10 am to 4 p.m. The backup election precinct is also set for Tuesday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Spring Affair plant pick-up runs May 13-16. For more information visit https://lancastereventcenter.org/
