Officials are anticipating a large turnout for people voting this November in the general election.

The presidential election traditionally brings in the most amount of voters then any other election but this year there is more then just the political races at stake. Some big issues may possibly be making the ballot statewide such as Gaming and Medical Marijuana.

Nebraska is a ‘no excuse early voting state’ which means residents do not have to provide a reason if they want to vote early. Nebraskans will have options when voting, they will be able to vote early like they did this past May or in-person on election day. David Shively, the Lancaster County Election Commissioner, is encouraging people to vote early if they can.  Early voting is nothing new and the number of people doing it continues to grow every year, Shively even saying it’s been growing for the past 20-years.

Today, July 6th,  is the first day people can actually request a ballot to be mailed to them. It is state law that people are given 120 days prior to the presidential election. That form is now available on their website, click here to request.
