Last minute holiday shoppers choose to buy local

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — With the holiday shopping season winding down, many are scrambling to find last-minute gifts.

After initially canceling their Wednesday holiday market, the owners of Willow + Sage opened up shop on Christmas Eve for all those still looking for the perfect gift.

Around 25 local sellers had products displayed at the shop for customers to browse.

Products ranged from clothing to edible treats, each with its own unique design.

Co-owner Dylan Douglas said the shops have been doing these last-minute markets for the past three years.

“A lot of people are looking to shop local, and there are not a lot of places open close to Christmas,” Douglas said.

She said there was something in store for every customer’s price range.

“That’s the nice thing about having so many vendors in store is that the price range is anything from a couple of dollars to 60 to 70 dollars,” Douglas said.

Many repeat customers showed up to speak with Douglas and her sister, Katie, about the latest happenings.

“When people walk in it’s hard not to greet them and not to chat with them,” Douglas said.

She said that the store is a hidden gem in Lincoln but that shouldn’t stop them from stopping by.
