Lefty’s Records in Lincoln closing at the end of August

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A beloved local record store will be closing its doors at the end of the month.

Lefty’s Records, which is located near the intersection of 27th and South Streets, will close after 11 years of business.

“I have had people come in, well, it’s been 11 years, when their kids were little, and now their kids are grown, and they are buying records, too,” owner Les Greer said.

Greer said in a post on Facebook that he would be retiring at the end of August.

Many in the community reached out and thanked Greer for having one of the best record stores and also congratulated him on his retirement.

Greer began his career working at Recycled Sounds in Omaha and decided he wanted to open his own record store.

“I’m humbled by all the kind words, thank you all,” Greer said in a post on Tuesday.
