LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – During its August meeting, the Lincoln Airport Authority board of directors approved an agreement making the Lincoln Airport the official airport of Husker Athletics.

United Airlines previously announced plans to add special flights to and from Lincoln for big football games.

“We are happy to welcome LNK Airport as one of our official partners,” Nebraska Athletic Director Trev Alberts said.

The Lincoln Airport will also be an official sponsor of Husker football, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball and softball.

The airport’s plans are to keep expanding service to benefit the Huskers.

“The Nebraska Cornhuskers and the iconic “N” have long served as a symbol of the pride and passion that all Nebraskans feel for our home fields,” the airport’s executive director, Dave Haring, said. “LNK is thrilled to have the opportunity to convey that passion to all those passing through our gates, whether visiting Lincoln for the very first time or coming home after time away.”
