LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln City Council has voted to adopt a new city flag design on Monday.

Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird congratulated local graphic designer Ed Mejia for his design called “All Roads Lead to Lincoln.”

Mayor Gaylor Baird announced a flag-raising ceremony in celebration of Mejia’s design. The flag-raising ceremony, which will be free to the public, takes place at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Thursday, Feb. 24.

Mejia’s design was a part of 190 entries submitted in the ReFlag Lincoln contest conducted in 2021. Mejia’s design will replace the current design, which the city adopted in 1932.

“I look forward to seeing our City’s beautiful new banner flying high across the city, reminding residents and visitors that all are welcome here,” said Gaylor Baird.

The Lincoln Chapter of the American Marketing Association and Lincoln Young Professionals Group will sponsor the flag-raising ceremony.
