Lincoln drivers face slick roads after snowfall
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — You may have thought Lincoln escaped the snow when heading to bed Wednesday night, but it finally arrived a little later than originally expected.
And it caused problems on our roads. On Thursday morning, Channel 8 crews saw a lot of side streets that were still waiting to be plowed.
Even areas that were treated were messy. The powerful and bitterly cold wind kept pushing the snow back into the streets, and there were plenty of slick spots.
Authorities advise everyone to stay home Thursday if you can.
If you don’t have any other choice, go slow, increase your following distance and make sure to pack emergency supplies.
It’s possible you’ll run into blizzard-like conditions, even though this is all the snow we’re expected to get.
Give yourself extra time to clear your windshields as well.
Many people woke up to a thick layer of ice that took 10 or more minutes to scrape off.
Officials are also asking anyone with elderly neighbors or family members to check on them.
