The local homeschool basketball league is hosting the Mid-America Homeschool Hoops Classic in Lincoln on Friday and Saturday.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln Eagles are hosting the Mid-America Homeschool Hoops Classic in Lincoln on Friday and Saturday at Speedway Village.

This local basketball league provides homeschooled players the opportunity to play in a competitive landscape as they welcome students from all over the Lincoln area.

“Extracurriculars are such a big part of education and forming young people,” said Athletic Director Tadd Wegner. “We’re able to provide a really awesome experience for young people.”

This tournament is one of the largest in the Midwest with elite homeschool programs from Colorado, Missouri, Iowa, Oklahoma and more traveling to compete.

“It’s going to be better competition that we haven’t played this year with teams from really developed programs as well that have been putting in a lot of work like our team,” said senior guard Dannen Farabee. “It’s gonna make us earn every game every point, every possession, and I look forward to that.

“The girls want that metal around their neck this weekend,” said varsity girls head coach Ashley Salsman. “They feel that they can go and do it, and they’re ready to go out there and get it done.
