Lincoln East High School holds 56th annual graduation commencement ceremony

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln East High School held its 56th annual graduation commencement ceremony on Saturday morning.

The ceremony took place at Pinnacle Bank Arena and honored the 576 Spartan seniors saying goodbye to East.

Festivities included the traditional receiving of diplomas as well as a performance from the East Singers directed by vocal music teacher Aaron Zart.

Graduating seniors Sophie Hacker and Rachel Laws also gave speeches commemorating all that they and their classmates have accomplished over the last four years.

Spartan graduate Hannah Robb says she’ll miss East and is thankful for one final sendoff with her classmates.

“It’s really cool because you don’t normally to get see all these people,” she said. “There are still some people in my class that I haven’t seen, so it’s cool to have one time where we’re actually together in the same room to send all of us off.”

Robb says it’s a bittersweet moment, but she’s looking forward to the future.

“I’m ready to be done, but I’m also excited for college and the next steps in my life,” she said.

Several other Lincoln high schools will also have their graduation ceremonies this weekend, sending their seniors off into the future.
