Lincoln employee assaulted during attempted robbery

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A female employee was assaulted during an attempted robbery Thursday night.

According to Lincoln Police, the events unfolded at a Super C, 745 S 21st St., around 8:30. The employee had been closing down for the night when someone wearing a mask came up from behind the candy aisle and demanded money. This person would later be identified as 19-year-old Qapreece Wells.

Wells grabbed her hair and punched her repeatedly in the mouth, causing minor injuries. Then, he tried to open the register for the money but was unsuccessful.

Wells quickly fled the store, with at least three witnesses chasing after him. The witnesses caught up with Wells, surrounding him until officers arrived.

Wells was taken into custody for felony attempted robbery.
