Farmers Market Opening Saturday Despite Coronavirus Concerns

Organizers say the Haymarket Farmer’s Market is a go for Saturday.

The start of the season was delayed last week due to concerns over COVID-19 and health safety.

Food and craft vendors will have to follow certain health and safety guidelines, Jeff Cunningham, Executive Director of Lincoln Haymarket Development Corp., told Channel 8 Eyewitness News.

“We intend to have vendors selling produce, baked goods, arts and crafts,  and hot food to go,” he said.

Directional signs will be posted throughout the area, and organizers will be on patrol to watch for potential problems, Cunningham said. Vendors will also be spaced at least 10 feet apart.

The Farmer’s Market at College View is also set to launch on Sunday, organizers said in a Facebook post.
