The fire was at an apartment complex located on A Street.
A Street Fire

Around 1:15 p.m. Saturday, Lincoln Fire and Rescue were called to the scene of an apartment fire near S 11th and A streets.

“So the east side of the building where the walkway and the doors are was completely covered in fire,” said Captain Rick Schneider for Lincoln Fire and Rescue.

Our Channel 8 reporter on scene could see smoke coming from the complex as firefighters battled the fire, spraying water on the building.

“They utilized the tactic where the search was through the windows on the back side,” says Schneider.  “So seven minutes after arrival, we had water on the fire and about twenty minutes after that building was declared clear.”

The fire has since been contained. Schneider adds 10 people are displaced and Red Cross was contacted to help.

He says thankfully, no one was in the complex at the time of the fire so no injuries were reported. Officials are working to gather more information on what exactly caused the fire.

This is a developing story and will be updated as we learn more.
