Lincoln Fire and Rescue hosting Patriot Day ceremonies

LFR, the Parks and Recreation department, and the Veterans Memorial Garden Advisory Council are hosting two events on Saturday.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Fire and Rescue, the Parks and Recreation Department and the Veterans Memorial Garden Advisory Council will be holding two Patriot Day ceremonies on Saturday.

The first event will be held at the north side of the State Capitol beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The event will pay tribute to first responders who died in the line of duty in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird, Fire Chief David Engler, and Governor Pete Ricketts will be giving remarks at the event.

Following the Capitol event the public is invited to the Veterans Memorial Garden in Antelope Park.

The free ceremony will begin around 10 a.m. and will include members of LFR and the VMGAC posting a wreath by the Post 9/11 Monument.
