Lincoln GOLD Members help pack food at the Lincoln Food Bank

Food is going to senior citizens who are in need

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Members of the Lincoln G.O.L.D. organization, a group of local high schoolers who give back to the community, volunteered at the Food Bank on Tuesday.

They were there to help pack food that will be delivered to senior citizens.

“It’s really heartwarming to help those in need. Today, we are packing up food for senior citizens. They get delivered to senior homes to help them with meals throughout two weeks” says Meghan Hammond, a G.O.L.D. member.

The organization also hosts a gala every year to raise money to provide scholarships to local students.

There will be a silent auction with plenty of different items for people to bid on, as well as dinner and a dance.

Channel 8’s Megan Conway is one of the emcees for the event.

The gala is March 26th at the Embassy Suites in Lincoln.
