Lincoln High School celebrates 150th anniversary

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A monumental happy birthday is in order for Lincoln High School, it turned 150 years old Sunday!

For their celebration, the school held an open house that included student-guided tours, an art show, and a look through the archives of the building.

All students, staff, alumni, parents, and the public were invited.

“I graduated in ’71 and that was the hundredth and we just had our fifty-year reunion. It brings a lot of joy to my heart to come back through the school,” Joe Vaney, who graduated from Lincoln High School in 1971.

Vaney says he often visits the school and walks to the halls every chance he gets.

Notable alumni from the school include national TV talk show host Dick Cavett and former President Kennedy’s speechwriter and advisor, Ted Sorensen.
