Lincoln hosted the Nebraska Hamfest at the Lancaster Event Center

Saturday was the Nebraska Hamfest at the Lancaster Event Center.

It’s a convention for Ham radio users and those interested in the hobby.

While a lot of people might not know what a Ham radio is the effect these volunteers have is undeniable.

“They’re taking nurses and meals on wheels out to the county where people may not have been able to get those services but we are using our radios and our vehicles and to be able to showcase that to Lincoln and say ‘hey we are right here, and we would like to have you a part of us you know that’s really something,” Justin Williamson of the Lincoln Amateur Radio Club said.

The group operates in Lincoln and Lancaster County and provides backup services for Lincoln and Lancaster County Emergency Management in the event of an emergency.
