Lincoln Hy-Vee Feed the Need campaign aims to give back to Lincoln Food Bank

During the month of February, the Food Bank of Lincoln typically sees lower donations in food and money.

So Hy-Vee is stepping up to fill that void, with the Feed the Need campaign.

At all Hy-Vee locations in Lincoln, you can help out by either giving a cash donation at the register or by rounding up your purchase to the nearest dollar amount.

“Feed the need program from Hy-Vee will do a lot to help us keep out shelves stocked during the traditionally hard winter months. So this is a great program and it’s just one way the corporate community in Lincoln and the surrounding areas step up to help folks that are struggling,” Scott Young of the Lincoln Food Bank said.

On top of the decreasing donation rate, the recent government shutdown forced a higher number of people to utilize what the food bank has to offer in their time of need.

Hy-Vee will be raising money all throughout February for the feed the need campaign. Their employees say they’re proud to be a part of giving back in a big way to the community.

“Hy-Vee is ready to help those that are in need this is a great way and a rapid response way to be able to number one raise awareness but number two be that conduit to fill the shelves,” Steve Parker Hy-Vee Store Director.

To make every dollar donated go as far as it possibly can Hy-Vee is matching customer donations up to $100,000.
