LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird announced Doug McDaniel, Director of the Lincoln-Lancaster County Human Resources Department, will retire in January 2022.

McDaniel has served in the position since 2012.

“He has provided impressive leadership to guide the personnel, pension administration, risk management and labor relations priorities of our organization,” said Mayor Gaylor Baird.

During McDaniel’s time as Human Resources Director, the team developed a new human resources and payroll system for the City and County.

“I have had the pleasure to serve two mayors and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the residents of Lincoln and Lancaster County,” said McDaniel.

According to a press release, the interim director will be announced soon. GovHR will conduct the search for the next Director and the city plans to select one by the end of February.

“The next Director of the Human Resources Department should possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to inclusive excellence,” said Mayor Gaylor Baird.
