Lincoln-Lancaster County Emergency Management issues wildfire evacuation grab-and-go list

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln-Lancaster County Emergency Management Agency released an evacuation grab-and-go list on Monday morning in response to Sunday’s fires.

Although residents from the evacuated areas are now able to return home, the agency has tips for any future emergency wildfire evacuations.

Level 3: 5 minute evacuation

  • Wallet or purse
  • Keys (car, house, RV, etc.)
  • Cellphone, charger, extra battery pack
  • Medications
  • Medical Devices (CPAP, cane, etc.)
  • Glasses
  • Laptop and charger
  • Emergency folder (passport, birth certificates, insurance papers, etc/)
  • Shoes and weather-appropriate clothes
  • Pet supplies

Level 2: 15- to 30-minute evacuation

  • All the above items and:
  • Radio
  • Flashlight and batteries
  • First-aid kit
  • Camping equipment (sleeping bag, tent, etc.)
  • Food
  • Water
  • Extra clothing
  • Blanket
  • Portable toilet and toilet paper
  • Important memorabilia (family photos, journals)

Level 1: 1-hour evacuation

  • All the above items and:
  • Already prepared multi-day to 2-week emergency kit
  • Comfort items (books, games, toys, etc.)
