Lincoln Lutheran names former Husker Sean Wieting as head football coach

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Lutheran’s football team has a new head coach.

Sean Wieting, a 6th-grade teacher at Lincoln Lutheran, was named as the team’s next head coach in a Tuesday press release.

Wieting has previous coaching experience, serving as head coach for Lincoln Lutheran’s middle school team since 2015.

He is also a former Husker, who played at Nebraska from 1994 to 1997 as a wingback.

“I am so incredibly blessed with the opportunity to be a leader of these outstanding student-athletes in life through the game of football at Lincoln Lutheran,” Wieting said in the release.

The Warriors finished their 2022 season with a 7-4 record, after falling to Norfolk Catholic in the second round of the Class C2 state championship.
