LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Lincoln man is facing charges after allegedly dousing a woman and a child with lighter fluid and threatening to set them on fire.
Jessie Allen, 32, appeared in Lancaster County court Monday where he was charged with felony counts of terroristic threats and child abuse.
Allen was arrested Sunday after officers responded to a home near 17th and Knox St. after a woman called and said Allen had threatened her and a child.
The woman reported that during an argument Allen had grabbed a bottle of lighter fluid and sprayed enough of it on her and a three-year-old boy to soak their clothing and hair.
The woman told officers Allen then lit a piece of paper on fire and said, ‘Stop playing with me I will set you on fire,” according to an arrest affidavit.
The alleged victim reported Allen then chased her and the boy around with the bottle of lighter fluid and the flaming piece of paper, according to the document.
Investigators said in the affidavit they found a mostly empty bottle of lighter fluid and what appeared to be a burnt piece of paper inside the home.
A judge set Allen’s bond at $100,000. He is scheduled to appear in court again next month.
