Lincoln man arrested after throwing handgun while running from officers
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — This morning around 3:40 a.m., an officer made a traffic stop for a crosswalk violation.
According to Lincoln Police Department (LPD), he became argumentative and refused to provide information the officers requested.
The pedestrian, 45-year-old Ramon Enriquez Jr., ran away as the officers tried to take him into custody. As Enriquez ran, he threw his phone and handgun on the ground.
An officer deployed his Taser which allowed officers to take Enriquez into custody.
LPD said after a search, officers found multiple knives and a glass methamphetamine pipe with residue.
Enriquez was lodged on charges of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a controlled substance and obstruction of a police officer.
