Authorities arrested a 32-year-old Lincoln man after he allegedly assaulted a woman and resisted arrest.

Lincoln police officers responded Tuesday night to a home near 12th and E St. on reports of an unconscious woman who had been assaulted.

Officers found the woman covered in blood, lying motionless on the floor inside the home when they arrived. The woman was conscious, but had numerous facial injuries and was “obviously in a great deal of pain,” investigators said in court documents. She was transported to a local hospital for care.

A witness reportedly told officers he saw a man, identified by police as Majok Riak, attack the woman, punching her and kicking her multiple times.

During an interview with investigators, Riak said the woman had “disrespected Africans” and that she “deserved what she got,” according to an affidavit for his arrest.

Riak reportedly struggled with officers, including trying to bite one on the hand, according to court documents. He was eventually lodged in Lancaster County Jail.

A judge on Wednesday set bond for Riak at $350,000. He faces two felony charges and is scheduled to appear in court next month.
