Lincoln man identified as victim of fatal Sarpy County crash

Authorities have identified a Lincoln man as the victim of a fatal crash on Interstate 80 Sunday.

The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office said 67-year-old Nabil Shokai was transported to Bergan Mercy Hospital but later died as a result of his injuries.

Deputies arrived on the accident scene on I-80 just west of the Highway 370 westbound entrance ramp Sunday night.

The preliminary investigation indicates a Hyundai struck Shokai’s vehicle from behind, authorities said. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Shokai’s passenger, identified as 74-year-old Kalul Bor, of Lincoln, was flown by medical helicopter to Nebraska Medicine and is currently in critical condition.

The driver of the Hynundai and its three passengers were treated for minor injuries.
