UPDATE: We spoke today to some people who knew Loudermilk, including Daniel Paulsen, the grandfather of Loudermilk’s 9-year-old son.
"I don’t know how long it’s going to take to really set in that his dad’s not there anymore," Paulsen said.
Salina Police aren’t saying why Loudermilk was shot, but they do think it was related to a robbery, and they think he knew the people who shot him.
Loudermilk has lived in Lincoln for 10 years and was just back in Kansas for a short visit. The people we spoke with here in Lincoln said Loudermilk had a steady job and was trying to provide for his two children, but whenever he went back to Kansas he feel in with the wrong crowd.
"We didn’t hear of very many good things that would happen there," Paulsen said.
Loudermilk worked at AgSource in Lincoln as a lab tech among other things. His manager, Justin Schmidt, said he was a reliable, kind worker.
"He never really talked about things that happened in Kansas," Schmidt said. "There was the assumption that he had come to Lincoln to get away from that."
Adonis’ son, A’treal, is in the fourth grade now.
"The time he spent with A’treal and with us, that’s what we’ll remember," Paulsen said.
