Lincoln mayor highlights achievements for the city at State of the City Address
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — On Oct. 6, Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird hosted the 2026 State of the City Address, highlighting achievements throughout her term.
Baird highlighted public safety, infrastructure and affordable housing.
For public safety, Baird said staffing has been maintained throughout Lincoln. According to Baird, Lincoln Police Department has maintained full authorized staffing since July. Along with that, Baird said her administration has added 31 police officer positions.
Baird said the investments into Lincoln’s infrastructure has improved services and city growth. She said her administration has invested $473.9 million into Lincoln streets.
Baird also highlighted housing, stating the city has issued more residential building permits in the past five years than during any other five-year period in Lincoln’s history.
