Lincoln nonprofit hosts Thanksgiving meal pickup for those in need

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Local nonprofit Loaves and Fishes held a Thanksgiving dinner pickup for those in need on Wednesday.

Anyone could come to ConnectioN Point, which is near 33rd and Holdrege Streets, to get a meal.

Karen Lamb, executive director of Loaves and Fishes, said the event is a great way to give back to the community.

“There’s nothing better than seeing someone who is really hungry get food, get things for their family, get what they need,” she said. “It’s what it’s all about.”

The nonprofit also packed up dinners to send over to Veterans Affairs.

Loaves and Fishes does a meal like this for both Thanksgiving and Christmas, but Lamb says they are going to need more donations to be able to purchase enough food for their Christmas meal.

The nonprofit is asking for donations through its partner, LuLu’s on N.
