Lincoln organizations collect expired medications
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Businesses in the Lincoln area spent Saturday promoting the proper disposal of expired medication.
As part of a larger push to collect unwanted medications the Drug Enforcement Administration named today National Take Back Day.
The DEA’s website has individuals type in their relative location to give them directions to the proper drop-off facilities.
The website hompage states, “DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day reflects DEA’s commitment to Americans’ safety and health, encouraging the public to remove unneeded medication from their homes.”
Those in the Lincoln area can drop off at two locations:
- University of Nebraska-Lincoln Police Department at 800 N. 17th St.
- Nebraska State Patrol through Hy-vee at 5010 O St.
While Saturday’s event was meant to spread awareness, individuals with unwanted medication can still drop them off at any major pharmacy in town.
