Lincoln Parks and Rec preparing for summer camps
With kids finishing up school and parents looking for something to keep them busy, Lincoln Parks and Recreation is gearing up for summer camps.
Lincoln, Neb. (KLKN) — With kids finishing up school and parents looking for something to keep them busy, Lincoln Parks and Recreation is gearing up for summer camps.
“This summer we’ll probably be about 75 percent of what our normal capacity will be and that just helps us spread everybody out,” said Payzant.
Dan Payzant for Lincoln Parks and Recreation says as summer approaches, they will be ready for the influx of children, making sure youth programs are in accordance with the CDC.
“What the CDC recently released for summer programs, we’re already in line with,” said Payzant. “It just reinforces some of the practices within the context specifically of summer camp.”
He listed some of the ways they’re keeping each child safe.
“Screening and symptom checks upon arrival, hand hygiene, masks indoors, sanitation, disinfecting,” said Payzant. “Just making sure everyone is spread out.”
Parks and Rec have various camps focusing on nature, art, drama, sports, and more.
Activities will involve swimming, gardening, and special presentations. It will also have adaptive camps for children with special needs.
“So it’s just a matter of being aware of what the best precautions are given the conditions of the community and making modifications to our programs as necessary,” said Payzant.
Payzant says in the programs children can have fun, create memories, and just be a kid, this summer.
